SIBS

SIBS are the UK’s only charity who focus entirely on supporting brothers and sisters who have a disabled sibling.

SIBS are a small charity but they wanted to make a big noise about their annual National Siblings Day in order to reach a bigger audience, and let more people know about the brilliant support they provide.

At Cause we always work with a story-led approach, and SIBS patron and Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley generously shared her story of growing up with her sister Frances, who has a genetic condition.

We interviewed Jo and placed her story with a trusted contact at the Daily Express, where it was published in print and online.

Then we arranged for SIBS CEO Clare Kassa to speak with Gaby Roslin on BBC Radio London about her own story, why she started the charity and the stories of the siblings she works with.

Jo Whiley: What my disabled sister taught me about love and loyalty

Last year Jo Whiley made headlines when she called for people with learning disabilities to get priority for Covid vaccinations because of their higher risk of death. The Radio 2 DJ was distraught that …

The coverage reached an estimated, combined audience of more than three million people, and Clare was thrilled.

“Sam was wonderful – intuitive, understanding and sensitive to our charity’s mission and had a clear vision of what we could achieve together. Sam worked with our patron, Jo Whiley, and was able to secure both national press and radio publicity for our work.  As a small charity this type of expertise is hugely valuable, vastly extending our reach and messaging to new audiences. I would have no hesitation in recommending Cause Communications and we will be continuing to engage them for future publicity work.”
